About the role

Job Description

Under the direction of the Front of the House Shift Supervisor, the Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting and seating guests within the various foodservice outlets in a timely manner. Emphasis must be placed on exceptional customer service as the Host-Hostess in many instances will be the first contact that our customers will have with an employee. All necessary precautions are required to ensure the safety and health of customers and ensure that safe work practices are adhered to at all time. Other responsibilities include assisting the FoH Manager, Supervisor(s), Servers and Cashiers in areas when and where required.

Provide excellent guest service consistent with Company's core service standards and brand attributes. Review all daily specials and promotions. Be aware of menu items, menu prices and hours of operation. Monitor and assign seating in a fair and consistent manner. Ensure all items required at the cashier / hostess station are in place prior at the start and end of each shift. Ensure all AGLC, casino and other provincial or federally mandated laws, policies and procedures are understood and adhered to at all times Develop and maintain positive relationships with all guests, food and beverage staff and other casino staff Must always report to work on time. Must always present themselves in a clean neat uniform. Must always maintain proper hygiene and grooming. Communicate to the FOH Manager or designate any issues that may require assistance to remedy.

Attend meetings and training programs when required

Education Required

A valid Alberta Pro Serve Certification. 1-2 years’ experience in a large volume, high paced foodservice operation dealing in a customer service capacity. A Post-Secondary education in a recognized Hospitality Management program would be an asset. Experience working with POS systems is required.

Skills Requirements

Possess excellent interpersonal and strong verbal and written communication skills to promote and deliver impeccable service and standards at all times. Organizational skills as well as attention to detail. Ability to work and thrive in a team oriented environment, and be able to function independently also. Ability to work in a physically demanding area and be familiar with a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Must be available for shift-work and be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment. May require lifting weight of up to approximately 50 lbs.
