About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary part-time Student - Junior Writer (Social & Content) to join our dynamic Integrated Marketing team.   

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Part-time Student Writer to join our dynamic Integrated Marketing team. Reporting to the Content Lead, Creative Studio, you’re not just a writer, you’re a bright, curious creative force. This is an early-career role designed for someone who is passionate about storytelling, understands how content performs in digital spaces, and is excited to grow within a fast-paced creative environment. 

This role is social-first, with a strong focus on creating engaging, platform-appropriate content. You’ll also support broader copywriting needs across campaigns, digital experiences, and internal communications. 

You’ll work closely with designers, strategists, and marketing partners to bring ideas to life contributing to content that is engaging, consistent, and aligned with our brand voice across all touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities

 

Social & content creation

Write clear, engaging, and platform-specific copy for social media (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok). Develop scroll-stopping hooks and concise messaging optimized for attention and engagement. Adapt tone, voice, and format depending on channel, audience, and objective. Support creation of content across other channels including email, web, landing pages, and campaign assets.

Creative development & collaboration

Collaborate with designers and creative leads to develop integrated concepts and campaigns. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas and content approaches. Translate briefs and strategic direction into compelling, on-brand messaging.

Content capture & production support

Bring a "creator mindset" to content, thinking beyond copy to how content is captured and experienced. Collaborate with internal partners to gather content and bring stories to life. Support content capture when needed (e.g. photos, short-form video, behind-the-scenes content).

Brand voice & quality

Apply and help reinforce a consistent brand voice across all content. Edit and proofread work for clarity, accuracy, and tone. Ensure all content aligns with brand standards and messaging.

Performance & optimization

Stay current on social media trends, platform changes, and content best practices. Monitor content performance and engagement. Use insights and feedback to refine messaging and improve outcomes over time.

Workflow & execution

Manage multiple assignments and deadlines in fast-paced environment. Work within content calendars and campaign timelines. Incorporate feedback quickly and continuously improve output.

Desired education and skills

 

Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program at a recognized academic institution in a relevant discipline (e.g. Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing). 0-2 years' experience in copywriting, content creation, or digital storytelling (personal or academic work encouraged). Demonstrated interest in social media trends, content creation, or digital storytelling (personal or academic work encouraged). Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Solid understanding of social media platforms and digital content formats. Ability to write for different tones, audiences, and objectives. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Comfortable working collaboratively and receiving feedback. Portfolio or writing samples are required.

What you can expect

 

This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at 67 College St, Toronto, Ontario 40% of the time/days of the week. Shifts/hours - Monday to Friday days, on average 20 hours a week, flexible with school schedule. Travel requirements - trave may be required for training purposes.
