Overview of role:

The Intermediate Analyst, Network Services, is accountable for the implementation and operational support of data network and network security technologies in a highly integrated enterprise environment.

This role is a supporting member of the Network Services Team and is responsible for the daily administration, maintenance, implementation, and support of our growing network and network security infrastructure. The successful candidate will demonstrate energy and a willingness to learn new technologies and business processes to support the delivery of scalable, secure, maintainable, and highly available network services, including firewall, segmentation, and virtual networking platforms.

Key deliverables / responsibilities include:

  • Administration of relevant technology within the Network Services portfolio (Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/NX-OS, Aruba Wireless, Infoblox DDI, F5 BIG-IP, Azure Networking, VeloCloud SD-WAN, VMware NSX-T Data Center, Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls).

  • Implement, configure, and maintain network security solutions, including firewall policies, intrusion prevention, URL filtering, and VPN services.

  • Follow and/or develop methodologies and processes for ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and improvement of network and security integrity.

  • Participates in change, incident, problem management tasks within the Network Services team.

  • Manage diverse operational services, including, but not limited to:

    • Design, procurement, configuration, and testing of network and security hardware/software.
    • Patch and upgrade management for networking and firewall platforms.
    • Security and performance monitoring, alerting, and response.
    • Troubleshooting and incident resolution for both connectivity and security issues.
  • Collaborate with vendors and carriers during project implementation and incident management/resolution.

  • Assemble, install, and relocate various types of network and security components, as required.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge management artifacts, support runbooks, and transition-to-operations documentation for new solutions.

  • Assist with gathering information and responding to assessment, compliance, and audit requests.

  • Create and maintain network and security documentation, including topology diagrams, firewall policy records, and operational procedures.

  • Participate within an on-call rotation providing after-hours incident support and remediation.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent combination of industry training and experience.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise networking platforms, associated interfaces, and network management tools.

  • Exposure to network security administration, preferably with Palo Alto NGFW and/or other enterprise firewall solutions.

  • Working knowledge in two or more of the following vendor technologies:

    • Datacenter networking (Cisco Nexus)
    • LAN/WAN (Cisco IOS/IOS-XE)
    • SD-WAN (VMware VeloCloud)
    • Wireless (Aruba)
    • Azure Networking
    • Infoblox DHCP/DNS/IPAM
    • VMware NSX-T Data Center virtual networking and security
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices, Terraform, shell scripting, Ansible, and/or Python is an asset.

  • Familiarity with security best practices, firewall policy management, and segmentation design.

  • Strong incident and problem management skills.

  • Ability to determine root cause from outcomes, proactively address issues, and implement preventative measures.

  • Excellent problem solving, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and documentation skills.

Preferred Certifications (Not Required)

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)

  • VMWare Certified Professional – Network Virtualization (VCP-NV)
