About the Family Office
We are a newly established private family office that manages a growing portfolio of B.C.–based real‑estate holdings and is actively building a private‑company loan and investment book. You will work closely with an experienced Finance Director and the family principal, helping shape the accounting function from the ground up as the office scales.
Position Summary
This is a hands-on position for an accounting professional who enjoys working across the full accounting cycle. You will manage day-to-day bookkeeping, monthly and quarterly closes, and prepare reports for multiple entities. Your work will span real‑estate assets, inter‑company accounts, and an emerging investment/loan portfolio. You will provide timely, accurate financial information to support decision‑making, working closely with the Finance Director and the principal.
We welcome applications from experienced Accountants, Bookkeepers, and those in similar roles who are comfortable working in a lean, hands‑on environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full‑cycle bookkeeping and accounting for multiple entities.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, including basic consolidations.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain records for private‑company equity positions, loans, and interest accruals.
- Reconcile inter‑company balances and ensure accurate related‑party accounts
- Assist with working papers and schedules for external tax advisors and auditors.
- Support process improvements, documentation, and automation initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop (or similar), as well as Excel and Google Sheets
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have
- Canadian CPA designation or candidate in progress.
- Experience in real‑estate/property accounting.
- Familiarity with multi‑entity accounting and basic consolidations.
- Exposure to investment or loan accounting.
Work Arrangement & Culture
- Hybrid model: four days per week in our Downtown Vancouver office; one day remote.
- Small, entrepreneurial team with direct access to decision‑makers.
