We’re Hiring!

We are currently looking to fill a full-time, permanent position for a Greenhouse Supervisor in our Greenhouse Department at our Leamington ON facility.

What You'll Do:

  • Supervise daily activities of the greenhouse, including crop work, harvesting activities, and quality control.
  • Schedule and oversee the greenhouse team to meet the demand and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency.
  • Motivating and encouraging the team to reach individual and company objectives.
  • Provide coaching, hands-on training and follow-up to new hires; however, training, development, and coaching occurs regularly throughout the department.
  • Continuous training of all team members to ensure they understand the activities and best practices to achieve objectives.
  • Collaborating with the Greenhouse Manager and other Greenhouse Supervisors to ensure proper allocation of staff and work.
  • Responsible for reviewing employee labor tracking system (Priva) as well as retraining employees if necessary.
  • Approve/deny employee time off and timecards within deadlines required to ensure smooth completion of payroll.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure seamless continuity between production with warehouse and other departments as needed.
  • Communicate and address variances, quality issues and concerns with relevant departments to help identify the causes and implement quality and efficiencies.
  • Support the Greenhouse Manager to ensure operations remain within budget for labor and throughout; monitor and measure performance to minimize downtime, reduce costs i.e., reducing hours and improve quality and efficiencies.
  • Complete required documentation, records, and checklists; submit to appropriate management personnel.
  • Provide feedback to the Greenhouse Manager regarding employee performance, with respect to evaluations, and if necessary; apply progressive discipline processes for non-compliances in a respectful manner.
  • Submission and follow-up of work orders for the greenhouse and oversee/coordinate general maintenance as needed.
  • Deliver accurate crop projections within 10% accuracy daily.
  • Monitor the work environment to ensure compliance of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, and all company policies and procedures.
  • Actively initiate, participate in, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the general housekeeping of greenhouse and assigned bunk houses.
  • Must comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Bio Security and Nature Fresh Policies and Procedures. As a supervisor, you are also responsible for ensuring that your employees understand and adhere to these requirements.

What You Bring:

  • Education is not a requirement. Training is provided at orientation and on the job.
  • Fluency in Spanish would be an asset.
  • Reading, writing, oral communication, and effective listening are essential job tools.

  • Making well-informed, effective, and timely decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality regarding employee and company-related matters.

What To Expect:

  • The Greenhouse Supervisor spends all their time in the greenhouse. It can be very hot, humid, moist, or cold for most of the year. There is exposure to various pesticides and insects including bees in the greenhouse

  • Availability must be open from Monday-Saturday. Hours will fluctuate according to the needs of the business (including Sundays if necessary).

  • Working with a wide array of people/cultures in a team setting but also working independently.

  • The Greenhouse Supervisor will experience a combination of walking, bending, crouching, and sitting throughout their day.

  • Travel between locations may be required.

  • There may be an occasional need for some moderate lifting (when needed).

  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
