About the role

We are looking for professional truck drivers to join us and become part of our Arrow family. As a professional driver with Arrow Transportation Systems Inc., based at the Ashcroft Mining Branch , you will haul B-train trailers and operate equipment ranging from tandem to tri-drive trucks. Operations primarily include hauling copper ore from the Mount Polley Mine, as well as road salt and soils.

  • Drivers must start rotation in Ashcroft but can be located anywhere near Kamloops, Ashcroft, Logan Lake, and 100 Mile House

  • Accommodations in Ashcroft are available for drivers hauling on the Highland Valley Copper haul

  • Paid in truck orientation

  • Day and Night shift available for Highland Valley Copper Mine shift

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations.
  • Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions.
  • Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics.
  • Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor.
  • Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites.
  • Record, Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure.
  • Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements. Tarping loads may be a requirement.
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up.
  • Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems.
  • Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect.
  • Train others when required.
  • Class 1 driver’s license is required
  • Super B experience is required
  • Class 1 mountain driving experience is required
  • Proven ability to drive in snow and to chain tires when necessary.
  • Ability to drive in other adverse weather conditions
  • Air brake endorsement
  • Clean drivers abstract or record
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, in order to safely perform job duties, including reading safety documentation, completing required reports, and communicating with dispatch and site personnel.
  • Ability to move 100 pounds, lift 50 lbs overhead and lift to shoulder height 75lbs
  • Ability to sit long durations
  • Ability to take and follow direction
  • Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility
  • Strong safety mindset and quality oriented

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
