Recruitment Advisor

As a Recruiter Advisor, you will engage in the community to raise awareness of WBF’s work and connect women to economic security through exciting careers in the trades and driving industries. This position is a key connector who leads relationships and presentations, sharing the value and impact of

WBF programs to the public, connecting with community organizations, fostering connections, and

supporting applications. The Recruitment Advisor plays a key role in WBF’s growth and impact by connecting more unemployed and underemployed women to economic security

Key Responsibilities

  • Work to implement the WBF Recruitment Strategy and play a key role in connecting women with training that leads to life changing employment.

  • Develop, create, plan, write and deliver recruitment resources, presentations, workshops, and information sessions

  • Organize recruitment efforts by program, focusing on prospective applicants in potential communities in an identified geographic region.

  • Share WBF information to identified target groups and other appropriate internal and external contacts. Make appropriate referrals using knowledge of all WBF programs and services (Financial Aid, Readiness etc.)

  • Represent and promote WBF by travelling and connecting with communities and prospective applicants to provide information about WBF (e.g. career fairs, information sessions, and other events)

  • Frequent travel throughout Alberta is required, approximately 50% of time.

  • Coordinate events such as industry showcases and information sessions

  • Introduce candidates to the Admission and Enrollment Advisors for applications and next steps

  • Field wide range of telephone and electronic inquiries; make referrals to internal and external contacts

  • In urban and rural communities, develop deep and broad Indigenous relationships; find ways to build trust and gain invitations i.e. as the champion of the long relationship cycle, become immersed in communities to then build partnerships.

  • Actively support WBF’s engagement of Indigenous women in exploring, preparing for and successfully entering Alberta’s trades workforce

  • Regularly research recruitment and orientation events, tracking trends and informing ongoing improvements

  • Ensure tracking and recording of all necessary recruitment information for internal and external purposes; report Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong relationship-building skills; approachable, empathetic and a good listener. Comfortable and confident communicating with a variety of people; industry leaders, trades personnel and explorers, and students.

  • Great capacity to adapt in a dynamic and changing environment.

  • Excellent service and public relations skills to connect with people and community organizations, knowledge of resources.

  • Strong communication skills: confidence and comfort to facilitate presentations, public speaking to large numbers of people, and group facilitation (both face-to-face and virtual)

  • Ability to communicate information in clear, concise ways, and adapt for a variety of participants and audiences.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Experience and comfort working independently and in collaboration with a team and community members.

  • Understands the barriers facing Indigenous women and history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada

  • Ability to travel and a valid "Class 5" driver's license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven driving record (abstract required).

  • Awareness of cultural, economic and social barriers to adult learning and employment, especially for women

Education & Experience

  • Related postsecondary education (Degree or Diploma) in Education, Community Development, Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum of two years of recruitment or community engagement experience
  • Demonstrated event coordination and project management skills.
  • Experience working with construction or trades is considered an asset
  • Experience presenting to groups
  • Criminal and Vulnerable Sector checks indicating no record of convictions or intervention service records are required
