Summary / Purpose of the Role
GFL Environmental is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cash Reconciliation Lead to join our Order to Cash team in Vaughan, Ontario. The successful candidate will be a critical player in ensuring the accuracy of customer accounts and general ledger balances. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple reconciliation processes effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Internal Integrations: Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve data flow discrepancies between various systems.
- Leadership: Lead the day-to-day team, ensuring all deliverables are met timely and accurately.
- General Ledger (GL) Reconciliation: Reconcile AR-related general ledger accounts to subsidiary ledgers, identifying and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and/or review journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and coding.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Collaborate with the Collections, Billing, and Operations teams to research and resolve complex reconciliation issues and transactional errors.
- Reporting & Ad-hoc Requests: Assist the management team with various ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests related to AR and reconciliation.
Success Criteria / Key Metrics
- Accurate month-end reporting while meeting all monthly deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Spreadsheet Expertise: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (e.g., using VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and complex formulas).
- Systems: Experience using Workday, Trux, and Tower.
- Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
- Organization: Close attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Teamwork: Ability to work across various teams to achieve common goals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience or foundational knowledge in an accounting, finance, or reconciliation role.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel (creating basic formulas, sorting data, and filtering).
- Proficient in Google Drive, including Sheets, Gmail, and Docs.
Interfaces & Stakeholders
- Collaborate with Collections, Billing, Cash Applications, and the customer to research and resolve complex reconciliation issues and transactional errors.
