About the role
Description
As a Mainframe Systems Programmer with a focus on security, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and compliance of our mainframe environment. You will be involved in various audits, compliance discussions, and activities, as well as addressing vulnerability and compliance findings. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining a secure and reliable mainframe infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in audits and compliance activities, including internal and external audits.
- Conduct daily APF library reviews and monthly security APARs/notices reviews.
- Address and raise vulnerability and compliance findings.
- Provide support and guidance for auditors, including access to the mainframe tools.
- Clarify audit questions and requests for data, and address findings in collaboration with Cyber Security.
- Support multiple Cyber Security requirements, including converting baseline standards, updating automated compliance scanning, and providing audit information.
- Participate in industry council meetings and conferences and share relevant information with other departments.
- Share knowledge with junior co-workers and support their development.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer with a focus on security.
- In-depth knowledge of mainframe security principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of mainframe operating systems (e.g., z/OS) and tools/components such as TSO, ISPF, NetView, RACF, SMP, and TCP/IP.
- Excellent analytical thinking and expert problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with audit and compliance activities.
Nice to have:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are a plus.
- Familiarity with security and compliance tools (ie IBM zSCC, Vanguard VCM)
