About the role
Position: Payroll Officer Location: North York, ON Salary: $36/hour Job Type: Contract from July 20, 2026 - September 30, 2026 (with potential extension based on client requirements) Posting Type: Open vacancy
Our public sector client is seeking a Payroll Officer to join their team on a temporary contract basis. This role will support a high-volume payroll processing project, ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration.
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with hands-on payroll processing experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process high-volume payroll transactions accurately and efficiently
- Review payroll data and resolve discrepancies as required
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
- Process Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Support payroll-related administrative activities and reporting
- Assist with payroll inquiries and provide timely support to employees and internal teams
- Ensure payroll deadlines, procedures, and compliance requirements are followed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience in a high-volume environment
- Experience using Dayforce or similar payroll systems
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, documentation, and compliance requirements
- Experience processing payroll adjustments, employee changes, and reconciliations
- Familiarity with Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent accuracy and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Additional Details:
- This is a temporary contract role supporting a time-sensitive initiative
- Public sector experience is not required
- Candidates must be available for an in-person interview, including an assessment process
- Four positions are available
- Candidates must be available to start Monday, July 20, 2026
