The opportunity:
Under Chief Power Engineer or Lead Charge Engineer supervision, the Assistant Engineer 3rd class works directly with the Shift Charge Engineer for the continued safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the power plant in accordance with the Power Engineers Acts and Regulations of Manitoba. The Assistant Engineer 3rd class is required to work rotating shifts for a 24/7 operation which includes 12 hour and 8 hour shifts.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- High School Diploma (Grade 12).
- Valid Manitoba 3rd class Power Engineer's Certificate.
- Valid Manitoba Driver's License-Class 5.
- Minimum 3 years - significant practical or position related experience.
- Significant related experience in a plant of comparable capacity is preferred.
- Must be able to communicate and follow instructions in English (verbal and written)
- Must be able to work independently or in teams with minimal supervision.
- Must have good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Must have knowledge and experience of introductory computing skills (i.e. word processing; excel spreadsheets, e-mail, and web browser).
- Must possess good knowledge of provincial Workplace Safety and Health Regulations.
- Must adhere to and be in compliance of Power Engineers Act and Regulations of Manitoba.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties as assigned.
- Must be able to pass required FIT assessment and related safety training. Must be able to work in awkward, confined spaces and high locations.
- Must be able to perform related duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance and punctuality is required.
- Will be required to provide acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Registry checks.
