Your Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced individual to fulfill the role of Contract Administrator, with a focus on Healthcare projects, for our Winnipeg Practice. As a Contract Administrator, you will work as part of an integrated and multidiscipline team designing and delivering a wide range of complex healthcare projects across Manitoba and beyond. Working closely with the project Principal and in collaboration with the Project Architect, Interior Designer, and Engineering leads, you will be responsible for leading the Administration of Construction Contracts as part of our services on behalf of our clients, as well as conducting constructability reviews, Contract Document Reviews, and assist with Design Detail Development.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Reading and assisting with implementing Construction Contracts on behalf of our clients
- Interpreting contracts and ensuring compliance with contract terms
- Ensuring GC, CM, or DM provides a construction schedule and schedule of values at the start of construction and reviewing the schedule at each construction meeting to monitor and verify construction progress
- Reviewing GC, CM, or DM’s performance in maintaining the standards or quality of construction in compliance with the contract terms
- Providing guidance to the contractor by interpreting the contract documents, answering questions verbally and, when required, coordinating and leading the design team’s response, issuing necessary documentation, including supplemental instructions, proposed change notices, change directives, or change orders in order to allow the progress of work on site
- Leading the review of the contractor’s Payment Applications and issuance of Progress Payment Certifications, determining the percentage of the work completed
- Processing, coordinating, and leading the design team’s assessment of off-site inventory claims
- Processing, coordinating, and leading the design team’s review of Shop Drawings
- Processing, coordinating, and leading the design team’s review of samples, mockups, and other submission
- Evaluating, coordinating, and leading the design team’s responses to GC, CM, or DM trades substitutions
- Conducting Site Reviews in compliance with provincial/territorial safety regulations and Stantec’s Safety Program, as well as any reasonable additional requirements of the contractor, e.g., personal protective equipment (PPE) and document construction progress and quality
- Promote good communications with the contractor and building officials
- Negotiating acceptable GC, CM, or DM trades solutions to contract changes and claims
- Reviewing, coordinating, and obtaining Sealing Professionals’ Letters of Substantial Performance, Interim Occupancy, and Final Occupancy
- Processing contract close-outs including coordinating and leading the design team’s review of O & M manuals, as-built drawings, deficiency walkthroughs, deficiency lists, and 1 year warranty follow up.
- Keeping clients well informed of the progress of the work, including issuing Site Observation Reports to the client and all appropriate parties
- Assisting with coordinating building systems
- Assisting with ensuring GC, CM, or DM’s implement the sustainable design requirements identified in the Contract
- Working with the GC, CM, or DM, Design Team, and Client to realize the design intent/vision
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- 15+ years managing and delivering construction contracts in Manitoba on project types of similar scale and complexity to the work our practice delivers
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
- Humble, driven to achieve Design Excellence Delivered Brilliantly, and collaborative with a High EQ
- Ability to engage and work within a creative and integrated design practice
- Interest in holistic design, systems thinking, construction, materials, sustainability, and technical design detailing
- Demonstrated experience administering complex construction contracts.
- Ability to participate in project team settings
- Excellent knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry associated standards
- Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills required to effectively handle changing priorities and project deadlines
- Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between drawings and specifications
- Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
