Job Summary As the Commercial Director (CD) for Canada residing in Canada, you will lead the sales function and serve as the cross-functional liaison to the brand team, access, commercial operations, distribution, and training to ensure successful commercialization of BioCryst products, with bilingual French proficiency preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Member of the Canada leadership team, key leadership role for sales and working with cross functional partners.
  • Understanding of Canadian compliance laws, guidelines, and regulatory authorities.
  • Proactively identifies and delivers on opportunities that further grow and develop the local country/regional business through collaborative relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Design, execute and support a disciplined call cadence across all key accounts. The role is predominantly field-based, requiring sustained time with direct reports and consistent, high-impact interaction with customers.
  • Very strong business acumen.
  • Work with Sales Analytics and leadership to design, communicate and implement incentive compensation plans that compliantly drive performance.
  • Organize, manage and lead the sales team according to highest standards of compliance with principles of good corporate governance, professional and ethical behavior and high standards.
  • Create learning plans and recommend training and development solutions, providing mentoring and coaching as appropriate, observing and ensuring execution in the field.
  • Build and manage influential stakeholder relationships to proactively uncover and advance business opportunities.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences and/or business required; MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Proven ability to make sound operational decisions and understand key drivers of profitability and growth
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation capabilities
  • 7-10 years of success in commercial leadership roles (ideally in rare/orphan or specialty diseases) with demonstrated people-leadership experience
  • Highly motivated, “can-do” professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability, small-company environment with measurable impact
  • New product launch experience in pharmaceutical/biotech—particularly in rare diseases—preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent; ability to inspire and manage high-performing sales and/or marketing teams
  • Broad experience in sales, key account management, and performance reporting
  • Deep knowledge of customers, competitive dynamics, and the broader industry landscape
  • Strong collaborator with a proven ability to build alignment across multiple internal organizational functions
  • Committed to working effectively within a diverse, global, team-based organization
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel extensively, up to 50%
