Simulcast Switching Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
The Simulcast Switching Supervisor is a dual-function leadership role responsible for managing the Simulcast Switching Team and ensuring the high-fidelity delivery of all switching services. This position balances administrative oversight—including scheduling, and performance management—with active technical operation of simulcast equipment to maintain CRTC compliance
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Management: Oversee the Simulcast Switching Team, including handling HR-related issues and conducting performance reviews.

Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule operators to ensure 24/7 coverage for all switching events.

Quality Assurance: Ensure the entire team maintains a minimum quality control accuracy rate of 98%.

Reporting: Complete comprehensive month-end reports and maintain a positive work environment.

Live Switching: Perform live system switches and post text-based content for the channel.

Data Input: Migrate programming schedules from Mediastats into the client-provided CPS application.

CRTC Compliance: Monitor and validate Canadian-over-American substitutions, specifically auditing program start/end times and audio/video quality.

Intervention Protocols:

Default switches if American programming interrupts the feed.
-
Ensure Canadian news interruptions remain untouched during substitutions.

Technical Resolution: Investigate operational errors and resolve technical issues within a 3–5 minute window.

NOC Liaison: Contact the client Network Operations Center (NOC) for channel disturbances or CPS application failures.

Application Expertise: Maintain expert-level working knowledge of the Telestream Inspector application.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5 years in broadcast operations, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or senior operator capacity.
- Focus: Demonstrated experience managing a team, handling HR issues (performance reviews), and overseeing complex scheduling.
- Accuracy: Proven ability to maintain a high degree of detail and accuracy (98%+) while multitasking.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Mediastats logs, CPS applications, and simulcast switching equipment.
- Communication: Ability to compile detailed occurrence reports and maintain daily contact with client stakeholders.
- Flexibility: Availability to work scheduled and ad-hoc shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends
