Purpose:
The Nurse Clinician will be responsible for coordinating and implementing clinical education in keeping with the family-centered care philosophy. The focus of this position will be to provide support for other inpatient and outpatient components of the program, including the Violence Intervention and Prevention Program. This position also carries a responsibility for Clinical Corporate Education.
Standard Qualifications:
-
A graduate from an approved Bachelor of Science Nursing Program**BSc(N)**or equivalent degree with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of the Lactation Consultant Program (within 3 years)
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life SupportBCLS.
- Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Provider**(NRP)**
- Current certification in Paediatric Advanced Life SupportPALS.
- Current certification in all of the required skills for Pediatrics, including:
- Admissions
- Central Venous Line Management
- Conscious Sedation Management
- Hyperbilirubinemia Management
- Hypoglycemia Management
- Lumbar Puncture Assists
- Medications Below the Drip Chamber
- Micro capillary Blood Collection
- Nasogastric Intubation
- Pain Assessment and Management in Pediatrics
- Child Maltreatment
- CANFASD Multidisciplinary training
- Criminal record check satisfactory to the Hospital.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
General Skills:

Computer skills including Microsoft Office software, Meditech Client Service OE and GRASP software.
Preference Given to:
- Candidates with successful completion of a Master’s of Science in Nursing or agreement to pursue.
- Graduate from an approved Perinatal or Pediatric Nursing Certificate Program.
- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in Pediatrics/adolescent care.
- Proven knowledge of pediatric diabetes, glucometer devices and insulin pumps
