About the role

Job Description The QA Clerk, New Build Support provides a variety of administrative and technical office systems support functions to the Quality Assurance Department. The QA Clerk, New Build Support will report directly to the Manager, Quality Assurance (QA) or delegate.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at our new faci lities on Ark Road, Cowichan Valley, B.C. For training, the first 3-6 months will be onsite at Victoria Shipyards.

  • Provides single point of contact for projects (as directed by the Manager QA). This includes communications with customer representatives.
  • Project database management (e.g. SharePoint data entry and file uploading).
  • Maintains material certification records in certification management software (e.g. MetalTrace)
  • Maintains and retrieves multiple electronic documents from various sources for distribution and hardcopy/softcopy filing/ retention.
  • Prepares accurate reports following established procedures.
  • Drafts and composes emails and reports for the QA department.
  • Assists with updates and maintenance of project files on the Seaspan network (e.g. project documentation)
  • Maintains Quality Assurance archives for all project and QA documentation.
  • Provides input relative to changes within the QA department.
  • Assists QA representatives when required.
  • Other duties as required

What You'll Bring

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma or equivalent in Office Administration
  • 2-3 years office experience
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Proficient knowledge of SharePoint
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure while being adaptable to change
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize
  • Work with minimal direction

Pay: Starts at $29.79/hour (rate increases to $33.11/hour after the probation period) This is a unionized position and pay rate for this position are set out in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. The rate stated above is the starting rate for this position. It increases after the probationary period and continues to progress over the course of 12 months as per the collective agreement.
