Process Engineer - Simulation & Major Equipment - Temporary (12-month Term)
Summary
We are seeking a Process Engineer to lead simulation validation and major equipment sizing across full-cycle gas processing and modular facility projects. You will develop and update PFDs and P&IDs, ensuring robust process design and compliance with engineering specifications.
You will perform sizing and performance assessments for exchangers, pumps, compressors, vessels, towers, and tanks. This role owns P&ID development through IFA and collaborates with other disciplines and vendors to manage data integration and design updates.
This is a temporary role on a 12-month Term and is based out of our 47 St Southeast office.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and validate process simulations for key process units and operating modes
- Generate and maintain PFDs and P&IDs throughout project phases
- Perform sizing, rating, and performance evaluations for vessels, heat exchangers, coolers, pumps, compressors, and other major equipment
- Conduct tower layout and tray configuration, and size tanks in accordance with design criteria and code requirements
- Improve and update P&IDs based on finalized sizing calculations and vendor data
- Interpret and apply engineering specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate equipment technical requirements with vendors and mechanical/piping disciplines
- Contribute to project documents including datasheets, design basis, and operating manuals
- Support start-up readiness through accurate process design documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering
- Eligible for, or currently registered as, a P.Eng. with APEGA (or equivalent)
- 3–10 years of experience in gas processing or modular plant design
- Proficient in process simulation tools (Symmetry, Aspen HYSYS, Promax)
- Strong understanding of equipment performance curves and design codes
- Hands-on experience in developing PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment datasheets
- Familiar with Canadian industry specs and standards (e.g., CSA, ASME)
- Effective coordination skills with mechanical, piping, and vendor teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Field exposure during fabrication, commissioning, or operations is an asset
