Join the Liquids Pipelines Power Accounts Management team to ensure accurate utility power cost accounting across North America.
You’ll blend invoice verification, month-end accruals, operational expense accounting and variance analytics to deliver clear insights and conscientious financial controls for internal collaborators.
This would be temporary role for about 6-8 months.
What you will do
- Validate utility power invoices and resolve billing discrepancies with internal partners and external providers.
- Prepare monthly power accruals/estimates and support clean, on-time period close activities.
- Perform cost and variance analysis between the general ledger and internal tracking, identifying drivers and trends.
- Allocate charges to the correct entities and maintain accurate data in accounting systems and supporting files.
- Provide documentation and evidence for audit requests and SOX-related controls while improving processes where possible.
Who you are
- You have a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business, plus 4 years of relevant accounting experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience in operational expense accounting, including accrual accounting and month‑end close activities,
- A highly analytical individual, who would be comfortable investigating variances and translating findings into concise explanations.
- Proficient in Excel (e.g., pivots, lookups) and confident working with large, detail-heavy datasets.
- You’ve used enterprise accounting tools (Oracle experience is an asset) and learn new systems quickly. Power BI experience considered an asset.
- Communicate clearly and expertly with diverse collaborators, using tact when handling sensitive information.
