About The Opportunity Our client, a leader in the infrastructure industry, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Canadian legal team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on business environment and enjoys supporting complex, multi-jurisdictional operations across Canada.
As Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in providing pragmatic legal advice and ensuring risk-managed growth across the organization’s business units. You’ll advise on commercial, operational, and regulatory matters while supporting executive and operational teams on strategic decisions. This role is a maternity leave coverage (1 year+) with a high likelihood of going permanent as their team is growing in Canada. Competitive salary, bonus and benefits.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide legal analysis and advice on a broad range of issues, including commercial contracts, construction, supply chain, insurance, and litigation
- Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements and support consistency across national operations
- Manage claims and litigation files in collaboration with external counsel
- Support compliance initiatives and ensure licensing and regulatory requirements are met
- Advise HR on employment law and labour relations matters
- Collaborate with the national legal team and internal business partners to drive efficient, risk-aware decision-making
About You The successful candidate will have the following:
- LL.B. or J.D. and member in good standing with a Canadian law society (Ontario preferred)
- 5-8 years of post-call experience in private practice and/or in-house
- Strong background in commercial or construction law; experience in logistics or industrial sectors is an asset
- Skilled in negotiation, contract review, and managing competing priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a practical, business-focused approach
About the Job This is a term position with a duration of 1 year to 18 months.
