The Opportunity Shape Something Different – As an Instrumentation and Monitoring Field Technician, you’ll play a hands-on role in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting monitoring instruments for major infrastructure and construction projects. You’ll work in both field and office environments, collaborating with engineers and contractors to ensure accurate data collection and project success.
Your Impact
- Install and maintain monitoring instruments such as inclinometers, piezometers, tiltmeters, and strain gauges.
- Collect and analyze monitoring data using total station units and specialized readout equipment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with suppliers and engineers for prompt resolution.
- Supervise installation and decommissioning activities on-site, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate site activities with contractors and subcontractors to meet project timelines.
- Support geotechnical and construction services teams with field and office tasks as needed.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- College diploma in civil or construction engineering technology, preferably with a geotechnical focus.
- Experience installing monitoring instruments and collecting data in construction environments.
- Familiarity with total station surveying units and various monitoring readout tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work near railway tracks or in challenging field conditions.
- Valid G-class driver’s license and access to a vehicle for local travel.
- Availability for extended hours, night shifts, and weekend work when required.

Compensation BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT: $57,500 – $76,200
MB & ON: $52,500 – $72,300
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $52,000 – $69,000
