Fredericton, N.B., (CAN.), Onsite Position Summary At the Thales National Digital Excellence Centre (NDEC Canada), we equip organizations and students with the cyber resilience and practical skills needed to succeed, through our Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC), R&D lab, and Education and Training programs.

The Operations Team is seeking a motivated and technically curious student to work as an Infrastructure Technical Support Intern for a 16-week term to work on supporting our local IT infrastructure and Cyber Range platform.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers, technologists, and educators to enhance infrastructure, develop operational tools and dashboards, and support cybersecurity training initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, project management, tooling, and cyber security-oriented training programs.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Information Gathering & Documentation: Assist in collecting detailed infrastructure information and help create or update architecture documents.
  • Infrastructure Redesign: Participate in brainstorming and potential redesign activities to improve the efficiency or security of existing network and server infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring: Support the enablement and configuration of status and security monitoring tools (e.g., for virtualization, proxy, SIEM, etc.).
  • Infrastructure Health Monitoring: Assist with the implementation of environmental monitoring solutions (e.g., tracking humidity, temperature).
  • Collaborative Projects: Contribute to the creation of dedicated networks for R&D initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT, Networking, or related technical program (academic coursework or personal projects are welcome).
  • Basic knowledge or interest in network, server, or security fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Bash) and/or infrastructure monitoring solutions (e.g., Grafana, Kibana) is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to learn about infrastructure monitoring, documentation, dashboards, and new technologies.
