Intermediate UX/UI Designer
About the role
Job Description
On behalf of our client, a Vancouver-based digital consulting firm, we are seeking an Intermediate UX/UI Designer to join a collaborative, product-focused team.
Our client partners with organizations to design and build complex digital products, including web platforms, mobile apps, and AI-enabled solutions. Their teams work closely with clients from discovery through delivery, with a strong focus on quality, clarity, and thoughtful decision-making.
This role is based in the Greater Vancouver Area and follows a hybrid model (minimum three days per week in office).
The Role
As a UX/UI Designer, you will contribute to the design of digital products across multiple client engagements. You’ll be involved across the full product lifecycle, from research and discovery through wireframes, high-fidelity design, and developer handoff.
This is not a production-only role. You’ll be expected to think critically, ask questions, and help shape the right solution, not just execute on requirements.
You’ll work closely with Product Owners, Engineers, clients, and end-users, and play an important role in translating complex workflows into clear, intuitive experiences.
What You’ll Do
Discovery & Research
Support user research activities such as interviews, usability testing, and contextual inquiry
Synthesize findings into artifacts like journey maps, user flows, and personas
Help identify assumptions early and contribute to validating design direction
Design & Delivery
Create wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes
Design across web, mobile (iOS/Android), and complex workflows
Ensure designs are intuitive, accessible, and aligned to user needs
Produce clean, well-organized Figma files with clear documentation and annotations
Collaboration & Handoff
Work closely with Product and Engineering to bring designs to life
Present design decisions clearly, including trade-offs and alternatives
Ensure strong developer handoff through clear specs and communication
Contribute to and evolve design systems and component libraries
Experience
What You Bring
3–5 years of UX/UI or Product Design experience Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work Experience working across multiple projects or priorities
Design Skills
Solid UX fundamentals (interaction design, information architecture, usability) Strong visual design skills (layout, typography, hierarchy) Proficiency with design tools such as Figma
Research & Problem Solving
Ability to work through ambiguous problems and arrive at clear design solutions Experience or exposure to user research methods (interviews, usability testing, etc.)
Communication & Collaboration
Clear communicator, comfortable presenting work and explaining rationale Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and non-design stakeholders Comfortable working in client-facing or consulting environments (nice to have)
Technical Awareness
Understanding of responsive design across web and mobile Familiarity with accessibility principles (WCAG) Basic understanding of front-end concepts (HTML/CSS) is a plus
Who You Are
You’re a mid-level designer who can own your work with some guidance, but without needing constant direction. You’re comfortable asking questions, working through ambiguity, and balancing user needs with business and technical constraints.
You care about the details, but also understand how to move work forward. You’re collaborative, open to feedback, and motivated to keep improving your craft.
