Job Summary
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics invites applicants for a one-year Limited Term Faculty appointment. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a total of four (4) sections of mathematics courses and an additional 2 sections will be for work as coordinator for the Math & Stats Centre for Fall and Winter terms. The courses will at the 100 level and will include Math for Elementary Teachers. The coordination of the Math & Stats Centre will include scheduling and staffing duties, maintaining the space, and service as monitor of the centre for 12 hours per week. The successful applicant is also expected to provide university or departmental service.
Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.
Qualifications
The successful applicant must have a minimum of an MSc in Mathematics, in tandem with a PhD in Mathematics or an MSc or PhD in Mathematics Education being preferred. The successful applicant must also have a record of effectively teaching university-level mathematics courses and experience in providing university service or community outreach. Demonstration of current competence in the mathematics education of school teachers is required. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching mathematics courses for future elementary school teachers or experience in the coordination of a math help centre.
