Goldsmiths, University of London Director of IT Salary: Circa £100,000 Location: New Cross, London (2-3 days per week on campus) Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time Goldsmiths, University of London, is looking for an outstanding individual to take on the role of Director of IT. This critical position provides an exciting opportunity to shape the future of digital transformation and technological services at one of London’s most forward-thinking universities.
About The Role As Director of IT, you will play a key role within the university’s senior leadership team, reporting to the Chief Finance and Infrastructure Officer. You will lead a diverse and highly skilled team to deliver a comprehensive IT strategy that underpins Goldsmiths’ academic ambitions and operational needs.
This role is responsible for ensuring that the university’s IT infrastructure, systems, and services are robust, secure, and fit for purpose in supporting the teaching, learning, research, and administrative operations of the institution. The Director of IT will be instrumental in driving the digital transformation agenda, improving the student experience, and ensuring operational efficiencies through the use of modern technology.
You will provide leadership across key domains including IT Architecture and Infrastructure, Information Security, Business Systems, Telecommunications, Digital Innovation and Transformation, IT operations and User Support. In this role, you will champion a culture of innovation and service excellence, ensuring that IT services continually evolve to meet the needs of students, staff, and the wider academic community.
About You You will bring significant leadership experience within an IT function, preferably within a complex and regulated environment. You will have a proven ability to develop and implement IT strategies that align with organisational goals, with a focus on service improvement and digital transformation. Experience in managing large teams and budgets is essential, as is a deep understanding of IT architecture, network security, and compliance frameworks such as GDPR.
As an effective communicator and collaborator, you will work closely with academic departments, senior leadership, and external partners to deliver innovative IT solutions that enhance the university’s operations. You will also demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence, ensuring that Goldsmiths remains at the forefront of technological advancement in the higher education sector.
