About the role

The Department of Biology is seeking Contract Academic Staff to deliver the following course at Brandon University for the 2025 – 2026 academic year. Lectures are in-person preferred.

15:090 INTRODUCTION TO BIOLOGY – 3 credit hour course (lecture)
MWF 10:40 am-11:30 am (Slot 3)
This course is designed for students who have not taken Biology in high school or lack the necessary background in biology to enroll in 15:151 The Biology of Life or 15:162 Cells, Genetics and Evolution. This course consists of four modules that highlight the main concepts in cell biology, genetics, evolution and biodiversity. Topics such as the chemistry of biological macromolecules, the structure and function of cells, Mendelian inheritance, basic molecular genetic mechanisms, natural selection, adaptation, speciation and biodiversity will be discussed to provide the required knowledge necessary to advance to 15:162.

Qualifications: MSc in Biology or related discipline is required; PhD is preferred. Prior teaching experience would be an asset. Salary: $7,857.00 per 3 credit hours.
