Responsibilities ABOUT THE JOB: As Big Data Cloud Expert, you are part of a global central team distributed between Montréal and Paris, with multiple responsibilities related to our Data Lake platform on Microsoft Azure cloud. Member of the team, you are the main point of contact for AMER region projects, in front of the teams using the platform for various business lines.
That Data Lake platform is leveraging various Open-Source technologies, such as Spark or Kafka, but also leverage on Azure specific technologies, as Azure Storage, HDInsight, Synapse, Fabric, AKS, etc.
The platform is self-service, with as much automation as possible, with strong requirements on security due to our regulated environment, with also stability in mind for critical business processes.
You’ll participate to the design of the evolution of the platform ad project transformation, implementation and production support as well. You’ll also provide your expertise to projects onboarding on the platform.
Your Big Data skills are as important as your Azure skills in that context, along with good understanding of performance and security concepts.

What will be your DAY-TO-DAY? For your role, you will oversee the following missions:
- Contribute to our Big Data offer on Azure:
- Maintenance and evolution of the current Big Data offer
- Collaboration with security team to identify all risks
- Implement Java APIs and infra-as-code scripts to automate the creation of Big Data services with our security constraints
- Conduct POCs to test new Big Data technologies based on new needs
- Provide advises and expertise:
- Assist project’s team on the choice of the appropriate technology
- Assistance on Spark implementation and tuning
- Assistance on version upgrades
- Guidance on cost optimization
- Deliver trainings on our Big Data platform
- Production support:
- Participate to the production support, with overtime when necessary, and communication on incidents with our AMER users.
- Assist project’s teams on the communication with Microsoft to identify the root cause. Identify workarounds and implement them.
- Communicate with Paris for hand-over when incidents are not closed after Paris hours, and communicate with Asia if incidents are not closed after AMER hours.
It’s a wide role with covering many topics, and great opportunity to learn new things.
Required Profile required Skills and Qualifications: Must Have:
- You have 5+ years of development and architecture experience with Java, building multi-threaded applications, APIs.
- You have previous experience with Oracle SQL or PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS background.
- You have good experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure management (ex: Kubernetes)
Nice to Have:
- You have good experience using Big Data technologies as Apache Spark, NoSQL DB, Airflow
- You have good experience on Microsoft Azure cloud technologies, such as Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure Storage, Azure Synapse.
- You have good working knowledge of infra-as-code with technologies as:
- Terraform
- Helm
- PowerShell / Bash
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, DEC, or equivalent technical Certifications
LANGUAGE: Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.
