Position Overview
The Medical Education Coordinator is a key member of the Medical Education teamat Michael Garron Hospital. Together, the coordination team supports undergraduate, postgraduate learners, as well as faculty development programs that prepare hundreds of medical learners each year to contribute to safe, high-quality patient care.
Reporting to the Manager of Medical Education and the Medical Director, each Coordinator takes primary responsibility for a designated portfolio (e.g., undergraduate medical education, postgraduate medical education, faculty and professional development)while working collaboratively to support the overall work of the Office of Medical Education. Portfolios may be adjusted over time to reflect program priorities and organizational needs.
The role requires professionalism, judgment, and initiative, with responsibility for coordinating learner onboarding, scheduling, program support, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement. Coordinators collaborate with faculty, hospital departments, and University program offices to help ensure that educational programs run smoothly and meet hospital, University, and Ministry standards.
Education
- Undergraduate degree required, discipline flexible.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in an academic medical center, university, or healthcare education environment.
- Experience working directly with physicians and/or medical learners.
- Knowledge of the Canadian medical education system, including physician roles and academic healthcare structures.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate high-volume programs and manage confidential, complex, and time-sensitive projects independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Skilled in data management, reporting, and processing financial transactions (e.g., stipends, reimbursements, invoicing).
- Advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, databases, scheduling platforms).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High standards of professionalism, judgment, accountability, and initiative.
- Preferred: Experience with data systems, website maintenance, and verification of external data sources (e.g., Ministry, University).
- Good work and attendance record required.
