The Opportunity
The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Recreation and Parks department as a PLAYcare Attendant in our childcare space.
PLAYcare is a drop-in child-minding service for children ages 1-8 years-old at Servus Credit Union Place operating throughout the year in the mornings for members and public. It is an active childcare service which focusses on a variety of lead and free-PLAY (Physical Literacy And You) activities for kids.
Reporting to a Recreation Program Coordinator, this position will be responsible for the safety and care of children 1-8 years old.
Responsibilities
- Playing, interacting with and supporting participants.
- Setting up and ensuring the play space is safe, inclusive, and fun Providing exceptional customer service.
- Ensuring participants are signed-in and out and assisting with record keeping.
- Interacting with parents and caregivers at the start and end of participants’ stays.
- Adhering to Health & Safety legislation, guidelines, and procedures.
- Light cleaning duties.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year’s experience working with children in either a childcare capacity or program is required.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C with AED certification is required prior to starting.
- Level 1, 2, or 3 Early Childcare Educator Certificate is an asset.
- Experience working in a childcare facility is an asset.
- Applicants must possess strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills are necessary to address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns.
- Reliable, takes initiative, and thrives in working in a diverse environment.
Hours of Work
- Shifts available starting mid-September 2025.
- Weekday shifts available are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:30am – 12:45pm, with the opportunity for additional weekday morning shifts.
Compensation
The wage ranges from $17.47 – $21.27 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
