| What we are looking for

The Core Payment Products team is focused on understanding our members’ high-value payment and settlement needs as well as the use and evolution of our existing platforms. We ensure that our products are practical, efficient, and responsive to their challenges and opportunities. Through our commitment to innovation, we strive to provide tools and standards that help financial institutions build sustainable and resilient payments for the future.

The Product Manager, Lynx is a key contributor accountable for significant initiatives to identify and implement enhancements to the Lynx payments platform, including settlement streams, rules, and standards, and for defining the evolution of payments in Canada. Additionally, they are responsible for interfacing with member financial institutions and other key stakeholders to develop, maintain, and improve business processes (including rules and standards) and key insights for the operation of Lynx.

| A day in the life

Your responsibilities as the Product Manager will include but are not limited to:

Product Management and Business Leadership

  • Lead product management for the Lynx portfolio, implementing industry best practices, identifying improvements, and aligning with strategic priorities.
  • Provide expert analysis and recommendations to Payment Products Management, ensuring alignment with member needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and manage a product features backlog and work with relevant stakeholders on prioritization and feasibility under the Product Road Map Framework.

Project Execution and Operational Support

  • Drive the execution of complex Lynx roadmap initiatives, collaborating across teams to ensure successful delivery.
  • Support the development of operational rules, standards, and procedures while ensuring quality assurance of deliverables and resolving project issues.
  • Work with operations and technical teams to ensure project feasibility, and obtain relevant insights to inform requirement documentation and business case development.

Stakeholder and Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, regulators, and stakeholders in the payment’s ecosystem.
  • Represent Payments Canada in working groups, forums, and events, delivering presentations and facilitating workshops as required.
  • Identify members’ needs, analyze trends, industry demands, and regulators' requirements and how they embed and transform the product roadmap and future needs to ensure our offering stays at the top of the list.
  • Able to translate and transform Payments Canada’s product strategy into detailed tactics, including road maps and product definitions, while considering constraints and stakeholders' demands.
  • Able to identify industry-leading product management principles and implement them on the existing Lynx portfolio while enhancing the end-to-end understanding of the product and mapping customer journeys.
  • Providing a business expertise interface between Payments Canada management, Financial Institutions, the Bank of Canada, and other external stakeholders ensures that issues impacting Payments Canada’s members are identified and analyzed.
  • Understanding developments in the broader domestic and international payments ecosystem and the implications on existing Payments Canada products.
  • Good understanding of product economics, experience managing P&L and project budgets while finding new levers and guaranteeing financial soundness.
  • A good understanding of SWIFT, wires and domestic large value payments and rules is considered an asset as well as previous direct experience on Lynx.
  • Conducting research and analysis and gathering user, member, and stakeholder requirements. This includes interpreting data and providing critical thinking to make sound and actionable recommendations.
  • Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks.

|What you need to be successful

  • University degree or college diploma in Business Management, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of solid experience in commercial payments or transaction banking.
  • Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the anatomy of payments, including exchange, clearing and settlements in the Canadian context, including SWIFT, wires, MT, MX and ISO20022.
  • Ability to gather and synthesize information in a concise and clear manner.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver briefings and presentations for senior audiences.
  • Experience influencing decision-making based on data-based suggestions, applying critical thinking accordingly and inspiring teams to work towards a vision.
  • Experience in leading complex, large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders with varying interests.
  • Deep understanding of Lynx functionality, in particular, the settlement streams.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Occasional travel will be required
  • Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks.

| Salary range

  • Based on qualifications and experience: $112,364 to $140,455.
