About the role
ROLE OBJECTIVE:
Under the supervision of the Director, Technical Services, the Intern provides technical assistance to EA’s staff and customers, as well as system-level support for the company’s production, development and server and network capacity requirements; works from written specifications and pre-established guidelines to meet requirements in R&D and office process flow, as well as supporting and maintaining Environics’ IT infrastructure.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
To effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position, the employee must be able to do the following:
- Maintenance, performance tuning, and support of implemented software by identifying and correcting software defects
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Investigate and develop skills in new technologies
- Provide technical assistance to both Environics’ staff and customers
- Manage Software and Hardware upgrades
- Research technologies required for projects to aid in software selection and troubleshooting system errors
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

Education – Should be studying in a Bachelor’s program in Electrical or Computer Engineering / Science, Mathematics or equivalent.

Experience – Should be familiar with writing software, and have some knowledge in basic IT areas:

Experience with programming – working with data structures such as arrays, lists, etc.

Familiarity with computer hardware and the ability to customize and refurbish workstations and laptops using component parts
-
Excellent English language skills – both written and verbal – are a requirement

Analytical Skills – Effectively researches and synthesizes complex or diverse information; uses intuition and experience to complement data and designs workflows and procedures.

Judgment - Displays willingness to make timely decisions, including appropriate people in the decision-making process and exhibits sound and accurate judgment; supports and explains reasoning for decisions.
