About the role
The HR Generalist supports the effective delivery of human resources programs and services across the organization, acting as a trusted partner to employees and management. This role is responsible for administering core HR functions including employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, performance management support, policy interpretation, benefits administration, and compliance with employment legislation. The HR Generalist contributes to a positive workplace culture by providing timely guidance, maintaining accurate employee records, supporting health and safety initiatives, and ensuring HR practices are consistent, fair, and aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer recruitment and onboarding processes, including posting job advertisements, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and facilitating new employee orientations.
- Support employee relations by addressing workplace concerns, mediating conflicts, and advising management and staff on best practices and policies.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, and other relevant legislation.
- Assist with performance management activities.
- Oversee benefits administration, including enrolment, changes, and responding to employee queries about group benefits and pension plans.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
- Interpret and communicate HR policies and procedures to staff, ensuring consistent and fair application across the organization.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of training and professional development initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in health and safety initiatives, including workplace inspections, incident reporting, and supporting return-to-work programs.
- Prepare HR reports and metrics, providing insights to management on workforce trends, turnover, and other key indicators to support strategic decision-making.

- The ability to manage multiple priorities without losing detail
- Clear, direct communication skills
- Sound judgment and discretion with sensitive information
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years' progressive experience in human resources, with demonstrated knowledge of employment law, health and safety regulations, and HR best practices in a Canadian context.
- Proven track record managing full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations for diverse workforces.
- Experience in preparing, analysing, and presenting HR metrics and reports to support business decision-making.
- Strong familiarity with ADP HRIS systems, records management, and confidentiality protocols in compliance with privacy legislation.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, supporting sound decision-making and process improvements.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining confidential records and preparing reports.
- Proficiency in adapting to new technologies and HR systems, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Demonstrates initiative and is capable of performing effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
