Join our dynamic team as an Educational Facilitator! Campus For All is an inclusive post-secondary education initiative for adults with intellectual disabilities. Reporting to the Coordinator of Campus For All, Educational Facilitator is responsible for working with students who have a developmental disability and for organizing and managing supports in an academic program of study. The Educational Facilitator supports the inclusion of students in campus life activities, as well as in the workforce, in addition to facilitating connections with peers and communicating with families.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide support to students, peers and instructors, as needed;
  • Recruit and work with peers to support Campus For All students;
  • Present to classes about Campus For All and opportunities for involvement;
  • Develop and monitor educational plans for each student, including the modification of assignments, assistance with projects, technology training, etc.;
  • Liaise between students and peers;
  • Communicate with Coordinator, the needs of students, mentors/peers, and instructors;
  • Develop, monitor and facilitate work-based learning, and/ or employment opportunities;

Position Requirements

What You’ll Bring to this Position:

  • Undergraduate degree in Education, Specialized in Special Needs Education.
  • Required minimum of 3 years experience in providing direct support services to individuals with with intellectual, cognitive and physical disabilities.
  • A combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

  • Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset;
  • Knowledge of inclusion, and inclusive educational practice is critical, as well as human rights and other legislation that influences services for persons with disabilities;
  • Experience working with and counseling individuals with intellectual disabilities, particularly in the area of education (course selection, academic expectation, etc.);
  • Knowledge of available complementary community support services;
  • Ability to respond and deal effectively with rapid change and crisis situations and to work well under time sensitive pressures;
  • Counseling and intervention training such as certification in courses from the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute or similar related training services. Basic knowledge of various mental illnesses and other behaviour issues of young adults is also an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work within a confidential, professional environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to relate effectively in a team setting and work independently;
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize;
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office programs and competency with social media platforms;
  • Certification in standard CPR/AED training level C and mental health first-aid is an asset;
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies is an asset.

Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $66,740 to $90,060 Status Permanent Work Hours

Monday – Friday, 8:15-4:30, with occasional evening/weekend hours, as needed.
