About the role

Option Construction Corp., headquartered in Spruce Grove, AB, is a leading General Contractor/Petroleum Contractor specializing in the Downstream Oil and Gas and Commercial Industry. Our services encompass new construction, redevelopment, facility maintenance, and installations across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented HR/HSE Administrator to join our growing team.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

HR Administration

  • Maintain up-to-date employee records in BambooHR (personal info, history, benefits, vacation requests).
  • Assist with recruitment by posting job ads, screening resumes, and conducting initial interviews.
  • Support employee onboarding and orientation, including HR policy explanations and asset tracking.
  • Manage employee relations by addressing concerns and promoting a positive workplace.
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives with the HSE Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, labor laws, and company policies.
  • Communicate company updates, policy changes, and HR bulletins to employees.

HSE Administration

  • Conduct safety inspections with the HSE Manager to identify hazards and maintain safety standards.
  • Maintain training matrix and safety records for employees.
  • Organize and maintain emergency documentation binders and safety ticket records.
  • Manage PPE inventory, issue PPE to employees, and coordinate orders when needed.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining job boxes with necessary safety documentation.
  • Provide ongoing administrative support to the HSE Manager.
  • Other HR/HSE responsibilities as assigned, not limited to the above.

Position Requirements & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 1–3 years of HR or HSE administration experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee matters.

  • Proficiency with HR software (BambooHR experience is an asset).

  • Knowledge of OH&S standards is an asset.

  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team.
