Engineering Business Manager - Mining
Role Overview
The Engineering business manager (EBM) - Mining is the specialist in providing technical advice, client service, value proposition data and engineering, related to mining solutions with geosynthetics. The application areas for the role are focused on: Tailings storage facilities Heap leach pads Caps and closures Access and haul roads Water management Processing plants and refineries Auxiliary transport infrastructure (roads, rail, ports & airfields) The full Solmax product and solutions portfolio must be utilized. As the mining EBM Solmax Value Added Products (VAP) systems must always be promoted in the first instance, it is however critical that our entire portfolio from VAP systems and solutions to volume-based products be used to secure profitable and sustainable business for the company.
Solmax is the only geosynthetics manufacturer with the ability to provide
project, application and situational specific solutions across the entire mining project and/or facility stages from construction, operation, closure and remediation. It is the mining EBM’s responsibility to drive the company’s growth using their expertise, networking skills and technical knowledge of mining geosynthetics solution to collaborate with every internal and external stakeholder in the mining project delivery lifecycle to secure robust specifications and project solutions which include the most appropriate and advantageous Solmax solutions. The EBM contributes to the technical promotion and specification of our solutions in the early stages of projects and throughout the project lifecycle and works in collaboration with the larger team in the region and the relevant team members globally.
Core Responsibilities
In this position, you will use your technical experience in geosynthetics to achieve technical and commercial objectives and further develop our network of customers predominantly, but not limited to, mine owners, EPCM’s, designers, regulatory bodies, industry groups and associations, main contractors, specialist contractors.
Build, grow, manage and nurture a robust, qualified mining project
pipeline to be maintained at least 6 x the sales budget for the region responsible.
Develop technical/commercial strategies, together with regional and
global team responsible and use your existing network to achieve these goals Collaborate in a global setting with colleagues and partners to develop new solutions and products.
Project management of a diverse portfolio, continuously seeking project
specific solutions to exceed the expectations of our clients and stakeholders.
Promote the use of geosynthetics in sustainable solutions, including
participating in committees and developing guidelines. Promote Solmax VAP systems as a priority.
Develop and implement, together with other team members, technical
marketing tools. Internal networking to share opportunities from your own network.
Prepare detailed case studies
Attend industry conferences, exhibitions and trade shows Write and present technical papers at industry events.
Technical presentations and “lunch & learns"
Full adoption and utilization of the Solmax CRM. Keep up to date and keep track of all project information, accounts and contacts.
Qualifications Needed
A civil engineering background (with experience in Mining) Demonstrable work experience in Mining Business. Commercial expertise in the mining market is recommended.
Background in sales engineering or product management in the mining
sector. Strong technical understanding of mining methods and equipment, across all commodities. An existing network and contacts in the mining market in your region. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships. Self-motivated, positive attitude, results-oriented and able to work independently.
