As a Developer – PeopleSoft Time & Labour within our Business Systems department, you will be responsible for technical expertise to understand complex functional PeopleSoft HRMS requirements, recommend technical solutions and promptly resolve application issues. As part of the Business Systems team, they analyze, plan and implement new projects and technical upgrades as well as facilitate integration between the PeopleSoft system and other internal and/or external systems with a focus on Time & Labour. They also provide critical support for Timekeeping, ensuring system reliability, functionality, and continuous operational effectiveness.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Provides in-depth senior level technical knowledge (workaround, root cause analysis, and permanent resolution) to resolve complex problems in the PeopleSoft technical environment.

  • Provides critical support for the Human Resources Management System (HRMS) Time & Labour and Timekeeping, ensuring system reliability, functionality, and continuous operational effectiveness.

  • Performs complex design and programming tasks. Leads integration and development projects.

  • Identifies and troubleshoots bugs, defects configuration issues and provides solutions.

  • Partners with clients, system analysts, database system administrators and other HR and IT teams to support fit/gap analysis and develop technical solutions to support business processes.

  • Works with Finance and HR teams on complex technical solutions and/or escalated matters to ensure the best design options and solutions are presented to the clients and user groups.

  • Works with functional analysts in design, development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of Peoplesoft customizations. 

  • Manages existing PeopleCode customizations, develops additional PeopleCode and unit tests PeopleSoft customizations. Prepares production migration documents to support requests with all supporting information and migrate projects/objects from development to test.

  • Maintains existing reports and develops new reports and interfaces using SQL, PeopleSoft App Engine and XML.

  • Supports Excel to CI mass upload scripts and creation of ad hoc scripts to correct production data issues. 

  • Participates as an effective team member for service delivery and problem resolution. Provide knowledge and recommendations on PeopleSoft technical issues.

  • Works with teams to confirm detailed architecture for complex solutions, including external design (navigation, screens, reports) and internal design (software and hardware platform, connectivity, modules, back-end and front-end components, interfaces) based on established architectural standards.

  • Provides input, develops and executes test, conversion, implementation, contingency and integration plans.

  • Delivers effective and efficient HRMS solutions. Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Implements high quality system components into the production environment. 

  • Prepares detailed technical design documentation, test scripts and procedures, including backup and recovery.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Enough about us, lets talk about you

You are someone with

  • A University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Successful completion of the following Oracle certified training courses is required: 

o   PeopleTools 1

o   PeopleTools 2

o   PeopleCode

o   Integration Tools

o   Application Engine

o   XML Publisher 

  • A minimum of five (5) years application development experience in a PeopleSoft /Oracle environment.

  • Expert knowledge and proficiency with Oracle/PeopleSoft 9.2, People Tools, People Code, Component Interface, Integration Tools, Application Engine, Java, XML, XML Publisher, SQL and SQRs.

  • Experience with software development and design tool (i.e. Sparx), and software testing tool (i.e. Test Partner).

  • Experience with the PeopleSoft Payroll, Time and Labour and Financial modules.

  • Experience with process scheduler and other enterprise schedulers.

  • Strong hands-on experience in developing, debugging, supporting and performance tuning of PeopleSoft application engines.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of object-oriented design (OOD), object-oriented programming (OOP), unified modeling language (UML), model driven architecture (MDA), and service-oriented architecture (SOA).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in Information Technology service delivery such as SDLC, PMBOK, COBIT and ITIL.

  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated planning and organization skills.

  • Effective oral communication skills. 

  • Experience working with cloud-based applications an asset.

What we offer

The hourly range for this temporary, full-time position is $40.76 - $68.68Please note that this vacancy is the result of temporary funding.

Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($56.31 - $68.68) based on experience.
