Specific Position Details
Start Date: August 26, 2026
End Date: June 29, 2027
Location: J.R. Robson School – Vermilion, Alberta
Assignment: Junior High Generalist (Grades 7–9)
Contract Type: Probationary, Part-Time
FTE: 0.7
Teaching assignment, grade level, and subject areas will be determined based on the strengths, background, and experience of the successful candidate. Preference may be given to candidates with experience or interest in junior high core subjects, options programming, inclusive education, or student leadership opportunities.
Specific Position Duties
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong understanding of middle years philosophy and the unique developmental needs of students in Grades 7-9
- The ability to create engaging, structured, and relationship-centered learning environments that support academic, social, and emotional growth
- Experience implementing differentiated instruction and inclusive practices to support diverse learning needs within a middle years classroom
- A commitment to fostering positive student relationships, belonging, and student engagement
- Experience supporting literacy and numeracy development across subject area
- The ability to collaborate with colleagues to support student success through shared planning, intervention, and school-wide initiative
- A willingness to contribute to extracurricular opportunities, student leadership, athletics, clubs, or other school activities
Qualifications and General Duties
The successful candidate will possess:
- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- A student-centred philosophy committed to maximizing student learning in a safe and caring environment
- Experience and/or training in Assessment for Learning, including formative and summative assessment practices
- Proficiency with Google Workspace for Education and educational technology to support communication, collaboration, and student learning
- The ability to foster positive relationships and create a strong sense of belonging for students
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
- A demonstrated commitment to professional growth and reflective practice aligned with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard
- A willingness to contribute to extracurricular opportunities and the broader school community would be considered an asset
