Position Summary:
At LCS, our Associate Faculty members are new professionals eager to challenge and enable students to reach their individual potential in mind, body and spirit. Associate Faculty live on campus and enjoy being part of an active learning community with an opportunity to experience formal mentorship and career development tailored to their skills and interest.
Associate Faculty work with and provide support to both the house (boarding) and academic programs. Through our house program, Associate Faculty support and mentor students who represent a wide breadth of backgrounds and experiences to enhance a diverse and caring culture. In our academic program, Associate Faculty duties are catered to individual strengths, experience and education. Associate Faculty with a Bachelor of Education will be assigned to co-teach with an LCS mentor and may have the opportunity to teach their own classes. Other Associate Faculty will be assigned to work with a value program (Outdoor Education, Co-Curriculars, Community Service, Leadership and more).
Duties include but are not limited to:

Two to three days a week of 24-hour house duty

One or two weekends a month of house duty

Assigned to teach or support the Program Area relevant to the candidate:
- Candidates with a B. Ed. will be assigned one to two classes of co-teaching and may have the opportunity for a class of their own.
- Candidates without a B. Ed. will be assigned to a value program (Outdoor Education, Athletics, Arts, Community Service, Leadership and more)

Coaching/leading athletic or artistic co-curricular programs throughout the year

Rotating school duties including: teaching/classroom coverage, evening and weekend programming and school block supervision, various on-campus student/spirit events, emergency hospital coverage

Engage in ongoing learning about the School's approach to positive mind, body and spirit, and modelling this commitment in daily interactions with students
-
Actively participate in School-led professional development opportunities with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth
The Associate Faculty role is a paid contract position including health and dental benefits, professional development funding, as well as OTPP contributions for OCT qualified teachers. Most Associate Faculty apartments are attached to the residence while some live on campus in staff buildings. Each apartment includes living space, a bedroom and a bathroom. Food at the dining hall, access to our beautiful 315-acre lakefront campus and all of the facilities are included with the position.
Qualifications and Experience:
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and experience:

Undergraduate diploma and/or degree required
-
For teaching and co-teaching assignments a B.Ed. with I/S qualifications is required
-
An interest in learning about and thoughtfully using AI tools to enhance their work with students and colleagues
-
Demonstrated ability to engage with teenagers and support them in their development and living the school’s values
-
Proficiency in the use and integration of information technology, including emerging tools such as AI
-
Enthusiastic commitment to the School's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Direction

Personal qualities:
- student-centered, collaborative, reflective, and receptive practitioner, able to inspire and motivate
- open-minded, resilient, empathetic, caring, and enthusiastic
- innovative - including cross-curricular integration appreciation
- flexible, ability to problem solve and think strategically
- strong interpersonal and communication skills, well developed professional judgment

Previous experience in a residential camp or boarding school setting would be considered an asset

Athletic or Artistic coaching experience would be preferred

Current certification for First Aid, CPR/AED

Second language proficiency is considered an asset

NLS, WFA, and other outdoor qualifications are assets
