We are currently seeking a highly skilled Equipment Operator III to join our Operations team. This full-time position involves operating a wide range of heavy-duty equipment for construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal roads and utilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical ability, safety awareness, and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
We are looking for a professional with considerable knowledge of safe equipment operation and maintenance practices. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently under varying conditions, and proficiency in planning and executing tasks efficiently. Physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain positive working relationships are essential. Familiarity with municipal street layouts and basic computer skills are required.
As an Equipment Operator III, you will operate and maintain advanced equipment including graders, excavators, backhoes, and skid steers. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, routine servicing, and minor repairs to ensure equipment reliability. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting maps and drawings, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with training other operators when required. You may also perform manual tasks and support other municipal operations as needed.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or the equivalent education
- Ability to safely and effectively operate the following heavy equipment: Graders, Gradall, Excavators, Backhoes, Skidsteers
- Must achieve full proficiency of all listed equipment within two years of start date
- Valid BC Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsement
This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $34.48 to $40.56.
