Reports to: Business Analyst Manager
Location: 24 Napoleon Road, Barrie (hybrid)
Job Purpose: Plan, design, develop and launch efficient business, financial and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects and application requirements. The Business Systems Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on the findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. Apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments. Review applications used by a company and advise business stakeholders on ways to make processes more efficient and employees more productive.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Meet with decision makers, systems owners and end users to define business, financial and operations requirements and systems goals, identify and resolve systems issues.

Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for enhancing business processes, operations and information process flow.
-
Conduct interviews to gather user requirements through workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios and other methods.
-
Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and applications and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging those.
-
Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions.
-
Conduct research on software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
-
Participate in the QA of purchased solutions to ensure that the features and functions are enabled and optimized.
-
Lead the planning, design, development and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
-
Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in applications across the organization.
-
Create system design proposals.
-
Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
-
Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house applications.
-
Create models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to application programmers.
-
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems and other post-implementation support.

Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new applications.
-
Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members.
Education and Experience:
-
College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting or management information systems
-
7+ years related work experience.
-
Accreditation in accounting or/and other business disciplines is desirable
-
Project Management certification and/or formal education is very desirable
-
Formal Education/courses in either of the following disciplines:
o Business-to-IT communicationo Managing projects and resources
o Analyzing business needs
o Project scheduling and budget control
o Critical-thinking and problem-solving
