About the role

Job Description In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Leader, and working in a computerized and digital imaging environment, the Supervisor, Ultrasound coordinates and supervises the day-to-day activities for the assigned diagnostic medical sonograhy services; provides direction to assigned staff, including technologists and students; reviews, updates, recommends changes, and ensures adherence to clinical and administrative policies and procedures; prepares and reviews annual performance appraisals for assigned staff as required and provides ongoing feedback on clinical performance to staff and students; maintains currency with new technical and clinical information and procedures; and implements established administrative and clinical policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Graduation from a recognized Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.

Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certifications, such as abdominal, obstetrics/gynecology, musculoskeletal, generalist, cardiac, vascular, breast; successful completion of recognized management/leadership/ supervisory courses; and three (3) years recent, related experience in an acute health care setting, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Eligible for registration with the Canadian Society of Medical Diagnostic Sonographers (CSDMS).
