About the role
Earl Paddock Transportation Inc. is a family-run flatbed carrier known for professionalism and respect.
We’re looking for a highly organized and driven Cross Border Dispatcher to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for coordinating flatbed shipments between the U.S. and Canada, with a strong focus on securing inbound loads back into Canada.
This is a fast-paced position where your ability to find backhaul opportunities, negotiate rates, and keep drivers moving efficiently will directly impact the success of our operation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Search load boards to secure inbound Canada-bound loads
- Negotiate rates with brokers and customers to maximize profitability
- Dispatch drivers and coordinate cross-border pickups and deliveries
- Plan routes and reloads to minimize empty miles
- Communicate with drivers throughout the day to ensure smooth operations
- Coordinate with customs brokers and ensure all border documentation is accurate (PARS/PAPS, ACI/ACE)
- Provide updates to customers and brokers on load status and ETAs
- Troubleshoot issues such as delays, border crossings, or site challenges
- Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and on time
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in cross-border dispatching (flatbed experience is a strong asset)
- Hands-on experience using load boards
- Solid understanding of Canada–U.S. freight and border processes
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of flatbed equipment and securement practices (preferred)
- Familiarity with HOS regulations in Canada and the U.S.
- Comfortable using dispatch/TMS systems and Microsoft Office
