About the role
The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from interested, qualified individuals for the team-oriented, full-time position of Human Resources Officer. This is a 35 hr full-time non-bargaining position, within the Human Resources Department. Portfolios and work assignments are currently under review and will be determined at a later date. This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.
Job Summary POSITION : Human Resources Officer
START DATE : As soon as possible
LOCATION: Administration Building, Human Resources Department
SALARY: $85,030 to $100,063
Nature & Scope Of Position Reporting to the Superintendent of Human Resources/Coordinator of Human Resources Services, and as an integral member of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Officer will assist with all facets of the Human Resources function with specific focus on:
- Administration of collective agreements and various Board policies and programs, including disability management, attendance support, recruitment, labour relations, and/or others.
- Facilitation of labour management practices including Joint Union Management discussions, grievance procedures and others.
- Recruitment, orientation, and staffing for employee groups.
- Supporting Supervisors, Managers, and others with expert advice on managing employee performance, implementing disciplinary actions, and understanding Collective Agreements, among other topics.
- Providing reports, statistics and analysis to the Senior Management team.
- Provide advice on Board policies and procedures.
- Supervision of Human Resources Secretaries.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Coordinator of Human Resources Services.
- Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, anti-racist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a three (3) year university degree or community college diploma in Human Resources, Business, Human Kinetics, Kinesiology, Industrial Relations or a related field, or equivalent, as approved by the Board.
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation or Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) designation is an asset.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive Human Resources, Disability Management or WSIB experience, preferably in the public sector and/or multi-union environment.
- The ability to multi-task, with time management and organizational skills sufficient to manage firm deadlines.
- Superior interpersonal skills, communication skills and a high degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with HR software applications, such as Parklane, IPPS and other Human Resources Information Systems.
- Knowledge of governing legislation including the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
