ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Laboratory Technician.
SUMMARY
The successful candidate for this position will not necessarily be required to perform all below duties in one shift. This position is designed to assist laboratory staff with tasks that are related to their job descriptions, including:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create an exhaustive lab material and equipment inventory to be maintained by lab staff
- Clean and organize labs and prep spaces as directed by lab staff
- Assist with care of live plants and animals
- Help organize materials for lab setups and tidy post-labs as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic working knowledge of a lab and lab activities
- Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and materials
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
SALARY INFORMATION
Student Assistants are paid as per the following:
- Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
- One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
- With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
