The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for the following teaching position to be offered in the Summer 2026 Term.
Course Name/Number: Math 2LA3 - Applications of Linear Algebra
Term: Summer Term, June 29 - August 14, 2026
**Number of Section(s) Available:**1 section
**Number of Units per Section:**3 units
**Location:**Central campus
**Projected Enrollment:**76
**Projected TA Support:**TBD
**Class Times:**Monday and Wednesday 2:30-5:20pm
**Examination Period:**To be arranged by instructor during class time
Wage Rate*: As per schedule “A” of the CUPE, Local 3906, Unit 2 Collective Agreement, the Sessional Faculty rate is $8922.68 for 3 units.
Course Description: This course focuses on applications of linear algebra. Topics include linear programming, applications of matrix decomposition theorems, examples from data science, singular value decomposition and applications to compression.
Required Qualifications: MSc and/or PhD in Mathematics or related field and classroom experience with the curriculum. Selection will be based on seniority, academic qualifications, communication skills, teaching competence, ability to perform the various duties of the Appointment, and previous academic employment experience (these criteria are not listed in order of priority).
-Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement. The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount. If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
Pay Transparency Statement
The starting salary will not be less than $17,845.36 per 6 units, or $8,922.68 per 3 units.
