About the role
Overview:
As part of the Department of Public Works, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking to fill one (1) permanent, full-time Skilled Labourer position.
Skilled Labourers shall be able to operate the City's basic equipment and tools, participate in water and sewer excavations, road construction and repair activities, and all other general duties assigned. Desired skills include basic carpentry and mechanical principles, knowledge of safety practices and procedures, have good decision-making abilities, the ability to remain calm during stressful situations, and possess strong communication skills. Must be able to work in a team setting and alone or with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D)

Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License

Class 3A Driver’s License is an asset

First Aid & CPR is an asset
-
WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, Traffic Control/Flagging, and Rigging training are assets, but the City is willing to train

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
Compensation:
- This is an in-scope position under CUPE Local 2359. Starting rate of pay is $26.65 per hour (2025 rate)
- Employees are eligible for the employer matched defined pension plan, annual paid vacation days, and a comprehensive health and wellness plan.
- General work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 1-hour lunch.
- Once all requirements are met, on-call participation is expected and is a shared responsibility throughout the department with 4 to 6 weeks on-call per year.
