Fundraising and Communications Specialist (Full Time 12 – Month Contract)
Reports to: VP, Fund Development
Position Summary:
The Fundraising & Communications Specialist works alongside the VP, Fund Development on key special events, third-party fundraising, communications, stewardship and annual giving deliverables, including overseeing the sales pipeline, and answering inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Events

Acts as a representative of BBBST at various in-person fundraising events and meetings that support the work of the agency

Assists with prospecting and facilitating third party fundraising events, in collaboration with VP, Fund Development
-
Coordinates and oversees event volunteers
-
Oversees guest registration at all events
-
Supports the events team with all aspects of event logistics and planning, including pick-ups of donation items
-
Supports sales and communications with purchasers/donors
-
Collaborates with our event production agency by attending regular meetings and upholding assigned tasks
-
Responsible for post event thank you emails and sponsorship decks (in collaboration with marketing)
-
Responsible for coordinating and facilitating main activations at events (i.e. BNO awards, portrait gallery, etc)

Prepares regular reports on status of registration for each event and share them in status with your manager, at event meetings, at committee meetings and with Director and CEO

Uses Raiser’s Edge, google docs or other documents that track event guest details
-
Leads fundraising event committee meetings (Big Leaders/Toronto Waterfront Marathon)

Other duties as required
Donor Engagement/Annual Giving
- Works closely with the VP, Fund Development to build and steward relationships with individual donors
- Processes donations in Raiser’s Edge to support events and annual giving
- Liaise with external and internal contacts to support funding development
- Assists with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship communication related to annual giving programs/campaigns
- Write and develop engaging and inspiring content and assist in deployment of fundraising campaigns
- Uses Raiser’s Edge to track donor pledges and opportunities
- Other fundraising and outreach duties as directed by the VP, Fund Development or leadership team
Communications

Works closely with Manager of Marketing & Communications to build effective and engaging donor communications and social media posts

Manage communications with various BBBST stakeholders such as donors and volunteers, including creation of quarterly newsletters and other communications

Responsible for the compiling of stories and photos that demonstrate our impact and ensuring they are used for the best purposes

In collaboration with the Manager of Marketing & Communications, plan and manage content calendars to ensure efficient production and use of assets across all departments, often planning months in advance

In collaboration with VP, Fund Development and Manager of Marketing and Communications, manage relationship with Freelance Graphic Designers, including briefing in projects and providing edits and approvals
Job Qualifications & Skills:
- University or college equivalent in fundraising education or a minimum three-year fundraising experience
- 2+ years of event fundraising experience in a non-profit setting
- Knowledge
and practical use of Raiser’s Edge is a strong asset
- Must be detailed oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work outside customary business hours during periods leading up to and during major events – includes some weekends and evenings
- Strong knowledge and practical usage of Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Successful vulnerable sector police clearance
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience in digital marketing is an asset
- Basic graphic design skills is an asset
- MS Office proficiency
- Canva proficiency
- Access to a reliable and consistent use of vehicle is required
- Driver's License is required
