Our Family Development Program in Red Deer seeking a:

Full-Time Permanent Family Search and Engagement Worker

The Family Development Program provides caring and professional family support to help develop positive family relationships by teaching parenting, living, communication and behavior management skills. This program helps children, youth and parents struggling with a variety of issues. Clients are referred to this program from their local Children Services office.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post secondary diploma at minimum, preferred degree directly related to Human Services from an approved institution
  • Required 2 years of frontline human services experience, preferred 3 years of human services work related to working with families
  • Proof of Membership in Professional Association (when applicable)
  • Knowledge of parent/child relationships and family dynamics
  • Basic First Aid Level C with Adult, Child, and Infant CPR &AED
  • Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training
  • Intervention Record Check & Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector.
  • Class 5 drivers license, clean drivers abstract and reliable vehicle for occasional client transportation required.
  • Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act
  • Knowledge and experience within the Signs of Safety framework would be an asset.
  • Preferred experience in the CS System

Responsibilities include:

  • Family Search & Engagement Services: locating parents, extended family members and other family supports with a vested interest in providing support to identified child or children.
  • Family Group Conferencing: including all components for FGC from locating family members, pre-conference contact, facilitation of conference and follow up processes.
  • Supporting children and families through a strength-based approach.
  • Coaching and mentoring parents.
  • Linking children and families with support networks.

Wage Range:  $27.28/hr. - $30.51/hr. Plus, Travel Reimbursement at $0.57/KM.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Candidates must be available to work select afternoons, evenings and weekends to provide programming that serves a wide range of populations.
