PERMANENT FULL-TIME MAINTENANCE III POSITION

Trillium Lakelands District School Board requires a permanent full-time Electrician effective starting May 4, 2026. This posting is replacing an existing position. This position is responsible to the Area Maintenance Supervisor, assisting with the maintenance of school buildings and related equipment in the Haliburton/Muskoka/COKL Areas.
Duties of the position include:
Maintenance and repair to building electrical components;
Working as a member of a team to apply skills and knowledge to maintain Board facilities and equipment in a functional, safe condition.
Complete new installations, renovations/repairs on existing systems including electrical equipment, door hardware and lock systems, water treatment systems, plumbing fixtures and components, pump rebuild and replacement, ventilation and heating equipment and carpentry repairs.
Troubleshoot, adjust and repair building components and equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems.
Qualifications Required:
Secondary School graduation plus additional three-year diploma program / equivalent apprentice program;
Must hold an Electrical-Construction Maintenance licence, valid in the Province of Ontario;
Over three (3) years' work experience in the building construction/maintenance industry in the Electrical trade area
Ability to demonstrate a mechanical aptitude with analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read blueprints including architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings.
Experience in making minor/major installations and repairs to buildings and components.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a crew, and to set priorities and manage workload.
Ability to repair and maintain equipment.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written orders.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of computer applications appropriate with the duties.
Current and thorough knowledge of related standards, practices, regulations codes and methods including WHMIS, Lockout-Tagout, Working at Heights, Hot Works, Asbestos Awareness/Abatement and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Hold and maintain throughout employment a valid drivers' licence.
Must be physically fit to perform the duties required.
HOURS OF WORK: 8 hours/day, 40 hours per week, Mon to Fri (day shift)
HOURLY WAGE: $41.53 per hour to start (min) - $49.97 per hour (max)
POINT BAND: 14 (Unionized Position)
Includes a generous health & dental plan, OMERS pension plan and short and long term disability plans.
If the successful candidate possesses two (2) or more valid trade tickets and can provide proof of such trade ticket (s) and they are recognized as one listed in the Collective Agreement, they will receive an hourly premium of $5.76.
