TITLE: Fitness Instructor I / II
DEPARTMENT: Community Services Department
HOURS OF WORK: Variable hours. Shift work as required.
RATE OF PAY: $26.73 per hour or 30.97 per hour (depending on the class) plus 15% in lieu of benefits
General Statement Of Duties
The incumbent shall instruct a variety fitness classes offered at the Cariboo Memorial Complex.
Supervision
Responsible to the Director of Community Services and under the direction of the Recreation Program Coordinator - Adult.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Instruct a variety of fitness classes at the Cariboo Memorial Complex. Apply effective public relations techniques. Maintain personal fitness level appropriate for instruction. Perform safe, challenging programs. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Minimum Grade XII education. Current BCRPA Fitness Registration. Current CPR C. Ability to instruct 45-90 minute classes.
Minimum of one of the following courses with intention of completing all four
BCRPA Fitness Leader – Aquatic Fitness BCRPA Fitness Leader – Weight Training BCRPA Fitness Leader – Group Fitness BCRPA Fitness Leader – Third Age BCRPA Fitness Leader – Yoga Fitness BCRPA Fitness Leader – Personal Training BCRPA Fitness Leader – Osteofit Self motivated. Knowledgeable in all aspects of fitness first aid. Shall have initiative and desire to undertake additional training to upgrade own skills and abilities. Fitness courses from other agencies such as Can Fit Pro, YMCA, YWCA and other recognized agencies will also be considered.
