Job Description POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Education Coordinator will ensure delivery of all required training as prescribed by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, Ministry of Health/Ontario Health Teams, Ministry of Labour, and The Salvation Army. They will also be responsible for data collection, record keeping, planning, organizing and development of training and assessing the training needs of staff.
Accountabilities Training
- Coordinate and conduct training classes that are job-specific, company-specific and meet the organizational and staff/employee or volunteer required needs.
- Ensure that the monthly training calendar is prepared and that all necessary supplies are available.
Communicate with front line supervisors on a regular basis to provide updates and attend staff meetings as needed/required.
- Liaise with management team to ensure that staff/volunteers are scheduled for training where applicable
- Ensure that staff/employees receive all mandatory training and any additional training that may be required, as well as recertification training.
- Create and maintain a mandatory training dashboard that provides an overview of organizational learning and areas of risk in the context of overdue training or inadequate participant to resource ratio.
Development, Assessment & Evaluation
- Draft and review policies in consultation with immediate supervisor as required regarding staff training around medication administration, health and safety and any other training as needed.
- Conduct needs assessments to develop and deliver training programs and training materials as necessary.
- Develop a comfortable and supportive learning environment and program for staff and volunteers.
- Within the Learning Management System, such as Surge Learning, tailor training to meet the legislative and organizational needs of the organization. This includes set up, maintenance, updating and assigning staff training. Ensure education requirements are met, manage team success, and provide the team with the resources and tools they need.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of job-specific applications and modify materials as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain training materials to the highest standards for internal courses.
- Ensure the health and safety of trainees during training.
- Responsible for the development, administration, and correction of training exams for measured outcomes; provide remedial training for staff requiring extra support in meeting training expectations.
- Responsible for ensuring all trainers are certified, provide direction as needed to ensure training requirements, legislation and agency standards are met and maintained.
Reporting and Recording
- Document and record staff training in the database and ensure that it is current and up to date.
- Create and maintain list of reports required for health and safety compliance purposes.
Working Conditions
- This is a temporary (12-month), full-time position based on 40 hours per week.
- Work from onsite 10% Flexibility in scheduling as some evenings and weekends may be required.
- Ability to stand for four or more hours at one time.
- Ability to lift/move up to 20 pounds
Education, Experience And Qualifications Education, Qualifications and Certifications
- Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of two academic years is required.
- Completion of a University Degree will be considered as an asset.
Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years in a training delivery role is required.
- Experience in the use of a learning management system at an administrative access level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning styles, interactive learning methods, conflict resolution, group facilitation, presentation skills.
- Experience designing, delivering, and maintaining training materials is required.
- Knowledge and experience with the following training courses is an asset: Non- Violent Crisis Intervention, Fire Safety Training, Crisis Protocols Training, U-first Training, Respiratory Health and Fit Testing, First Aid CPR, WHIMIS and others as required.
- Expert level of proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, any learning management system.
- Experience in the development, delivery, and monitoring of training programs to support and enhance staff development and the evaluation of effective training programs.
- Experience as a trainer or educator is an asset
Skills And Capabilities
- Maintain information in confidence as required.
Strong interpersonal skills – able to develop collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Aptitude for conducting surveys.
- Self-motivated and disciplined.
- Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle is a requirement, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Mission, Vision and Values of The Salvation Army in Canada and their implications for position responsibilities in all aspects of work, including the manner in which responsibilities are fulfilled.
Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $55,693.49 to $69,616.86 with a maximum of $83,540.23.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
